Last Friday, 29 April, Move Strong Gym held a fundraiser for the Tasmanian Royal Flying Doctor Service, in memory of our good friend and gym member, Joshua Simpson. It was a great day, and we humbly thank all those who came along to the gym on what would have been Josh’s birthday, and gave generously of your time and money. It was both a solemn and an exciting day, as we gave honour to Josh and his life, while also helping out and giving thanks to a worthy charity, who helped Josh during the time of his brain haemorrhage. Although, sadly, Josh’s life could not be saved, the Royal Flying Doctor Service can and do save thousands of lives throughout rural and remote Australia.
We were really excited and so grateful to tally up the money raised from the events of the Joshy WOD Fundraiser and the Move Strong For Joshy online auction. Together we raised $3,677.60! What an awesome effort by everyone involved! It was great to see our Move Strong family come together to support the fundraiser, and wonderful to see many old and new faces come along to the gym to support Josh’s beautiful wife, Amanda, and honour Josh on his birthday.
We recently spoke to Mary Frost from the Tasmanian Royal Flying Doctors, and she was over the moon with the amount we raised for their service. The RFDS don’t receive any government funding, so all money needed to keep the service running is by donations. This makes our cause even more worthwhile.
We had quite a few people come through on the day to do the Joshy WOD. Well done everyone on giving these tough WODs a good crack. There were quite a few sore bodies the next day 😉 Congrats to the top three male and female winners of Joshy A & Joshy B:
Joshy A
1st place – Brandon Zinenko & Jo Beams
2nd place – Thomas Brooks & Rene O’Niell
3rd place – Jamie Bayles & Jessika Meirano
Josh B
1st place – Andy Trudgian
2nd place – Jason Singleton
3rd place – Daniel Beamish
The 1st place winners will have their name engraved on the Joshy WOD Trophy, and all winners will receive a prize from Bulk Nutrients, Blue Dinosaur Paleo Bars or SBG Supplies. If you haven’t collected your prize yet, please drop in to Move Strong Gym and we’ll help you out 🙂
And our Lucky Door Prizes went to: Dennis Hendricks, Ben Moreland and Ash Beams.
And we can’t forgot to say a big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers, for donating your services, products and time to this cause. Without you guys, we would not have been able to pull this fundraiser off! Big thanks to:
