I’ve been waiting to write this post for a VERY LONG time! I have been going through the CrossFit Affiliation process for quite some time. It’s so exciting to finally say that we have a CrossFit affiliate at our gym. Booyah! 🙂

I have a lot of thoughts about CrossFit. I love it to bits. It’s so varied. So multi-faceted. I love how it has changed the face of fitness around the world. People are talking. People are thinking. And that’s good because I love to talk and think! 🙂

CrossFit is the sport of fitness, but it is also a great way for complete beginners to get moving and discover health, wellbeing and physical fitness for the first time in their lives. If you’re reasonably well (free of injuries, compensations, asymmetries, sleep dysfunctions, nutritional imbalances, etc) then you can really make great strides towards realising fitness. It all starts with a foundation of wellness and a framework of movement skill. Add to this strength training and  conditioning conditioning and you’ll finally achieve fitness you’ve never thought possible!

Fitness Model

To excel in CrossFit competition, you need to have a foundation of wellness, a framework of movement skill, brute strength and peak conditioning levels. Without the foundation of wellness and movement skill, you can’t realise your true potential in strength and conditioning.

To bring into clarity what we’re doing, we’re going to call our classes CrossFit FITNESS classes. This is essentially what we’re trying to achieve –  functional fitness.

Our CrossFit FITNESS classes are small personalised group training sessions designed to reinforce wellness, teach movement and skills and to develop basic levels of strength and conditioning on top of that.

In our FITNESS sessions, we do a lot of EMOMs, tempo work, unilateral lifts and spend a lot of time educating and instructing in movement and skill. Our sessions are proving excellent for beginners and intermediate trainees seeking to gain a good level of fitness. This might not be enough to whet the appetite of someone with a competitive spirit.

Guys! I’m very excited to announce, we are starting our Competition Training program at Move Strong Gymnasium.

This is a tweak on things we have done in the past. It’s more polished and pointed. Our CrossFit COMPETITION programming is designed to forge elite fitness. Our COMPETITION programming is for those looking to get into the best physical condition of their lives. It will prepare you specifically for competing in Throwdowns and in the Open.

Most people think that CrossFit is all about competition, but that’s only what you see on ESPN. It’s not all about Rich Froning, Annie Thorisdottir and all the other easy to see, easy to watch and easy to covet athletes pouring out their souls on our screens. There are the everyday mums and dads, complete beginners, seasoned veterans and even the completely out of shape. CrossFit is, at its very core, all about realising the potential for wellness, movement skill, strength and conditioning in the human organism. This is what our current CrossFit Group Training focuses on, while our Competition CrossFit training program is dedicated to taking your strength and fitness to the next level.

Note, our COMPETITION programming is a special program designed to be used as extra work. It is not a class, rather it is a program you can pay to access that will take you where you need to go in order to excel at competition. It is It is $50/4-weeks. We also offer complete individualised programming designed for those who train remotely or train outside our group training sessions.

Our “King of the Coast” throwdown is set to kick off in a couple of weeks, we want you to be ready for this. As a promotion, we are offering all our athletes who follow the COMPETITION program 3 x FREE COACHING SESSIONS every week leading up to the throwdown. This will ensure you do things right, get started off  on the right foot and get prepped ready to do your best!

To get started, or for more information, please contact Filipa or call 0408 707 249. Programming starts on Monday!
